FogPASS — Fog Pilot Assistance System for Safety

FogPASS is built for the worst fog months, but it supports loco pilots throughout the year. In dense fog, the next signal can disappear from view; in clear weather, the same unit gives the pilot a dependable electronic reference for the route ahead. Using satellite tracking and the stored section database, FogPASS announces upcoming signals, level crossings, neutral sections and speed restrictions well before the train reaches them.

  • Voice + visual alerts — the immediate landmark in large type with the distance counting down, and the next two below it.
  • All landmark types — signals, manned and unmanned level crossings, permanent speed restrictions and neutral sections.
  • Pre-warning distance is yours to set — 500 m as standard, configurable per landmark or group to suit foggy and non-foggy running.
  • Every section and traction — single, double, twin single or multiple line; electrified or not; electric and diesel locomotives, EMU, MEMU and DEMU.
  • Speeds to 160 kmph, with an 18-hour battery and a 15-day on-board event log.
  • Standalone — no locomotive wiring or interface, nothing to fit or remove.
